What Should I Not Feed My Parrot?

More and more households have pets nowadays, and these pets are indoors and often treated like members of the family. Just like our human loved ones, we want to make sure our parrot is well fed. When fixing a family meal, you may want to feed your feathery family members the same food you feed your human family members, but parrots aren't able to consume all of the same things we can. Parrots require a well-balanced diet, as most animals do. While they can have some people food, there are certain things they should never consume.

Alcoholic Beverages

These beverages contain theobromine, and this ingredient is toxic to parrots.

Some fruits and vegetables are excellent for parrots to consume, but avocados are incredibly toxic to them and result in death.

Sugary And Salty Snacks

Too much sugar and salt are bad for parrots. Their bodies are smaller than ours and cannot handle high amounts of either ingredient.

Caffeine and Carbonated Beverages

These drinks also include theobromine and are dangerous for parrots to consume.

Taking care of your parrot should be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience, as long as you watch their diet and make sure they only eat foods that are good for them.
